Learning Health System (LHS) Collaboratory

11:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Palmer Commons, Great Lakes North Central

The LHS Collaboratory is the University of Michigan’s hub for advancing interdisciplinary research on learning health systems. Join the kick-off meeting to discuss how to establish University of Michigan as an international epicenter in this emerging science.

Across the U-M campus, many faculty, students and staff share interest in the concept of a Learning Health System (LHS) with the capacity to continuously study and improve itself. These interests reflect both the challenges of achieving an LHS and the promise of improving individual and population health through the LHS. The challenges and the promise have given rise to national and international movements to achieve learning health systems at organizational, regional, and national scales.

By creating a campus-wide hub for these interests, the LHS Collaboratory will advance interdisciplinary research and promote the development of learning health systems. Through collaboration, U-M could become the world-wide academic epicenter for the LHS, and the Collaboratory will seek to realize that potential. By working together, we will be positioned to seize opportunities for federal funding that are likely to emerge, and to create our own opportunities to obtain funding from foundations and donors.

The LHS Collaboratory will expand and extend work begun under the university's Third Century Initiative. We invite those who engaged in this previous work, all others with interests related to the LHS, and those who simply wish to learn more, to join the October 4 kick-off luncheon.
