Biography

Dalton Simancek is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems (HILS). His research interests include the study and development of privacy assurances, data equity initiatives, validation measures, and implementation/utility outcomes of data models and applications in learning health systems. Prior to becoming a HILS student, Dalton worked at Apple Inc. integrating analytics tooling into software engineering workflows and analyzing customer device logging and data to inform product and quality initiatives for tvOS, watchOS and HomeKit teams. He also created information tools and managed pediatric health services research projects at the UM Child Health and Evaluation Research (CHEAR) Unit.

Dalton graduated from Kalamazoo College with his BA in English and the University of Michigan with his MS in Information. Dalton treasures his experiences living abroad in both Germany and South Africa and is grateful for the colleagues, friends, and family that inspire him. Dalton’s dog Kylo has been a great travel companion and stays stylish with his many colorful bow ties.
