Learning at All Levels

At the University of Michigan, we are developing the science to transform knowledge into actionable change. Being at the forefront of the newest discipline in health care places our department in the unique position of training future health system leaders. We offer specialized educational programs for a wide variety of learners, including medical residents, faculty, practitioners, and graduate students from many different disciplinary backgrounds. We will equip you with the knowledge to impact change from the individual to the systems level, wherever you work.

Graduate Degree Programs

Our graduate programs are designed to meet learners where they are.

Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE)

A Master’s degree program unlike any other, the University of Michigan MHPE focuses on learner competence rather than a program of fixed duration or set of courses. Designed for health professionals who want to develop their educational leadership and scholarship, the UM-MHPE builds learning into your current educational responsibilities for a customized plan and rigorous assessment.

Master or PhD in Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems (HILS)

Learning health systems are organizations or networks that continuously self-study and adapt using data and analytics to transform practice. Our newly launched Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems (HILS) graduate program is on the forefront of this emerging science.

Professional Development Programs (MESP & PASQUAL)

Michigan Medicine faculty and staff are invited to apply to our professional development programs.

Medical Education Scholars Program (MESP)
