Professional Development Programs

Continuing Excellence

Our department was founded on the premise of continuing medical education. Though its concept and delivery has evolved over time, the aim is still the same: provide opportunities that allow our Leaders & Best to become even better with expert training.

For Michigan Medicine faculty and staff interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in education and research while they work, we offer two longitudinal professional development programs:

Medical Education Scholars Program (MESP)

This 10-month program is designed for Michigan Medicine faculty and a limited number of fellows to develop as leaders in medical education. Each year, Scholars develop skills including educational leadership, teaching and scholarship through weekly interactive sessions.

Patient Safety & Quality Leadership (PASQUAL) Scholars Program

This 8-month program prepares Michigan Medicine clinical faculty to expertly lead patient quality and safety initiatives as well as educate and perform research in these areas. The PASQUAL Program was directed by the DLHS until June 2019, it is now directed by the Quality Department. Please contact the Quality Department with any questions.

More information about the program can be fund on the Faculty Development website here.
