John O’Malley is a Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems PhD student exploring how medical-dental integration can improve public health. Connecting datasets to build out a full understanding of individuals oral health needs, John aims to build descriptive and predictive models that can identify oral health care system gaps and better target public health interventions.
John taught high school science and community health as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the South Pacific and West Africa before beginning a career in dental public health. He has developed population health analytics for dental benefits administrators such as DentaQuest, Delta Dental of Illinois, and Delta Dental of Michigan and has consulted for dental public health associations such as the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors and the Michigan Oral Health Coalition. In 2021, he graduated as Paul D. Coverdell Fellow and Master of Health Informatics from the University of Michigan.
