Biography
Margaret Stewart is a master’s student in the Healthcare Infrastructures and Learning Systems Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2010. Following graduation, Margaret completed an RN diploma program at UPMC St Margaret in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2012. After graduation, Margaret returned to Ann Arbor and began working as a registered nurse at Michigan Medicine caring for surgical head/neck and breast cancer patients. While working, Margaret completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Michigan-Flint. Margaret became interested in quality improvement in nursing metrics while working as an RN. In 2017, Margaret began working in the Office of Patient Relations and Clinical Risk where she currently works. In this role, Margaret works with Michigan Medicine radiology, otolaryngology and surgical services. Margaret reviews unanticipated patient outcomes to determine the appropriateness of care provided. She also manages pre-suit claims. Margaret currently holds certifications as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM).
