Gruppen and Barnosky each received the Lifetime Achievement in Medical Education Award. Kolars received the Global Community Service Award recognizing his efforts to advance U-M's international collaboration platforms. Barnosky's career is marked by a commitment to medical student education that goes beyond skills training to foster student's development has critical thinkers and compassionate physicians. Gruppen's work medical education encompasses a variety of contributions including self-assessment, adaptive testing and the evaluation of professionalism. His work in competency based medical education led to the formation the Masters of Health Professions Education program for which he serves as director.
