Established in 2019, the RISE initiative aims to create an innovation culture through evaluation and fostering an environment that supports innovation. As a RISE fellow Burkhardt's focus will be engaging residents to use data they collect in their individual clinical practice to bring about critical reflection on unconscious bias in health care practices.
"The RISE Fellowship is an 18-month fellowship aimed at promoting translational education within Michigan Medicine. RISE Fellows receive 0.25 effort and up to $7,500 to develop and implement a translational education project. Fellows also receive coaching and participate in our Innovation Lab to learn more about innovation strategies, translational education and pedagogical principles."
