The Lifetime Achievement in Medical Education, which recognizes "outstanding faculty educators who are making exceptional contributions to medical education," was presented to Harrison by Carol Bradford, MD, MS, Executive Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Medical School who was assisted by Rajesh S. Mangrulkar, MD, Associate Dean for Medical Student Education.
During his acceptance speech Harrison reflected on the need for evolving approaches in the profession. "Medical education today must go beyond learning how to provide health care to learning also how to improve health care," said Harrison before a packed crowd of Michigan Medicine leadership, faculty and staff.
