David Hanauer, MD, MS, Joins DLHS

As of June 1st DLHS has a new faculty member focused on “free text” retrieval. 

Hanauer, a clinical informatician, is responsible for the EMERSE (Electronic Medical Record Search Engine) system that enables users to search clinical notes from electronic health records such as CareWeb and MiChart. In a continuation of this work he will establish a Clinical Text Analysis Laboratory at DLHS. He will also continue as the informatics lead for MICHR, and is also key contributor to MICHR's Network-based Research Unit. In addition to his new role at DLHS, Hanauer will maintain joint appointments in the Michigan Medicine Department of Pediatrics and the UM School of Information.
