HILS PhD Student John O'Malley receives ASTDD President's Award

HILS PhD student John O’Malley, MHI, recently received the 2022 Association of State & Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD) Greg McClure Memorial President’s award in Fort Worth, Texas.

On April 10, 2022 O’Malley, a population health scientist, was presented with the award that celebrates passion for dental public health marked by his contributions to the ASTDD.  He was nominated by Christine Farrell, RDH, BSDH, MPA Michigan Oral Health Program Director and 2020-2022 ASTDD President who described O’Malley’s contribution to the association and public dental health:  “He has been involved in oral health data collection and analysis for a number of years and has worked with the DentaQuest Institute, the Illinois Primary Health Care Association and the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation. As the oral health program manager for the Foundation, John created the Illinois state oral health data visualization platform which was the inspiration for the National Oral Health Data Portal.”

O’Malley is currently a rising second year PhD in the Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems program.
