Biography

Renée Smiddy is a health policy expert with over 13 years of experience in health information technology, health finance and hospital quality improvement, which gives her a well-rounded understanding of the complex U.S. healthcare market. She is highly experienced in interpreting regulatory guidance and leveraging policy knowledge to contribute to hospital operations and is currently serving as a senior researcher supporting the Health – Payer Innovation, Transformation and Support division at the American Institutes for Research. Her past experiences include serving as the Michigan Health Information Technology Commission Co-Chair, where she helped bridge the gap between public and private organizations sharing electronic health information; and previously, she served as the Senior Director of Finance Policy at the Michigan Health & Hospital Association, where she analyzed and interpreted policy impacts on hospital finances and operations. Ms. Smiddy holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from University of Michigan-Dearborn.
