UM Gastroenterologists Publish a Clinical Review of IBS in JAMA

Drs. William Chey, Jacob Kurlander, and Shanti Eswaran conducted a thorough clinical review of the existing evidence on IBS to provide practical, evidence-based treatment recommendations to providers. 

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) affects 7% to 21% of the general population. It is a chronic condition that can substantially reduce quality of life and work productivity. The objective of a recently published clinical review on IBS was to summarize the existing evidence on epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnosis of IBS and to provide practical treatment recommendations for generalists and specialists according to the best available evidence.
