Mentoring Through the Lens of Plants as Teachers

3:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Biomedical Science Research Building (BSRB)
Kahn Auditorium

The Neuroscience Graduate Program's (NGP) Education and Mentoring Task Force is proud to bring you its "Mentoring Lenses" Series. This new series will begin with an inspirational seminar by Dr. Beronda Montgomery, formerly of MSU and now Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Grinnell College. The Task Force will then hold practice-based workshops throughout the year from other thought leaders on various aspects of mentoring. Dr. Montgomery's seminar is open to the @umich community, but future workshops will be reserved for the NGP and MNI communities.

Dr. Beronda Montgomery is a scientist, scholar, and author who has deftly combined themes within biology, mentorship, and professional development to bring greater equity and inclusion in academia. She is the author of Lessons from Plants, an exploration of how plant behavior and adaptation offers valuable insights into human thriving.  Read more about her perspectives on mentoring, watch a short YouTube interview from 2020, or watch a full seminar from 2019.
