Biomarkers, owing to the incredible advances in molecular biology in the past 20 years, have fundamentally changed how brain tumors are diagnosed and treated. However, challenges remain in using biomarkers to give insight

into disease biology. In this talk, I will discuss the current state of biomarkers in neuro-oncology and how novel biomarkers can be used to push forward our understanding of the biology of neoplastic disease of the nervous system.

I will also present strategies for overcoming these challenges and facilitating the translation of biomarker information to clinically-useful knowledge. The goal of this talk is to provide an overview of the current landscape of biomarker discovery in neuro-oncology and to highlight the importance of bridging the gap between biomarker identification and the translation of biomarker information into biological knowledge.By sharing my work on this topic and best practices for advancing our understanding of disease biology through biomarker information, this talk aims to provide a roadmap for the way forward in neuro-oncology.
