Computational psychiatry is an upstart field that takes a novel approach to explain mental disorders. Theorists in this new field build computational models that explain in a step-by-step way how the mind/brain performs key mental functions. They then demonstrate how signs and symptoms of mental disorders arise from altered “parameter settings” of these models.
The Symposium this year features five leading theorists in computational psychiatry (see the schedule pasted below). They will present highly accessible, state-of-the-art updates on key research areas, including delusional belief in schizophrenia, negativity bias in depressive disorders, and altered social cognition in autism.
