Ann-Lisa is a graduate student in Dr. Mary O’Riordan’s lab. She received her B.S. in cell and molecular biology from the University of Michigan in 2016. During that time she worked with Dr. Linda Fredriksson analyzing the role of tPA in blood brain barrier regulation and spent a year in Dr. Vern Carruthers’ lab studying the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. After joining the microbiology and immunology department for her PhD, she made the big leap to the adjoining lab where she is studying how the host responds to bacterial infection using human intestinal organoids as a model system. When not in the lab Anna-Lisa enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, biking and exploring nature.
