Research Lab Tech Intermediate

Andrew Carter provides technical research support for both the ALS and Diabetes teams.  On ALS, he works with Drs. Stephen Goutman and Benjamin Murdock on a variety of research projects.  For diabetes, he works alongside John Hayes on peripheral neuropathy phenotyping used by our diabetes team and the Cutaneous Innervation Center (CIC).  

Carter joined the NeuroNetwork for Emerging Therapies lab in 2021, recently graduating from Central Michigan University (CMU) with a B.S. in biomedical science and molecular biology.  During his undergraduate studies, he formed an interest in bench (basic science) research while working alongside Gary L. Dunbar, Ph.D., John G. Kulhavi Endowed Professor and E. Malcolm Field Endowed Chair of Neuroscience at CMU, in a partnership with Michigan Medicine Professor of Biological Chemistry Michael Uhler, Ph.D.
