Neuropathy Research Covered Nationwide

Television stations nationwide covered neuropathy research by Andrea and Lawrence A. Wolfe Research Professor of Neurology Melissa Elafros, M.D., Ph.D., based in Flint, MI.

Andrea and Lawrence A. Wolfe Research Professor of Neurology Melissa Elafros, M.D., Ph.D.'s research on neuropathy in Flint was covered on television stations across the country, including markets like Detroit, Tampa Bay, Houston, Dallas, and Chicago.

The segments highlight the fact that while we know that tens of millions of Americans have neuropathy, recently published research by Dr. Elafros shows that this number could be much higher.  The research study, a joint effort by Michigan Medicine and Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI, found that almost three-quarters of patients in a primary care clinic had neuropathy, and 75% of it was undiagnosed.  This is a significant problem because it leaves a lot of neuropathy untreated and dramatically affects the quality of life for patients.
