Objective
To present standardized diagnostic criteria for research use of idiopathic distal sensory polyneuropathy (iDSP), i.e., neuropathy of unknown cause, and its subtypes: idiopathic mixed fiber sensory neuropathy (iMFN), idiopathic small fiber sensory neuropathy (iSFN), and idiopathic large fiber sensory neuropathy (iLFN). These diagnostic criteria will help researchers identify patients with iDSP and its subtypes to recruit the appropriate participants to drug trials.
Conclusions
Adopting these standardized diagnostic criteria will advance research and clinical trials to spur development of novel iDSP therapies.
