I was born in Canada, but was primarily raised and educated in Indiana. I studied Neurobiology and Psychology at Purdue while also swimming on the varsity team. This is when I realized how special it is to be a part of a team where each individual selflessly works to better others to make the team better. Finding a residency program with the same type of team oriented mentality and camaraderie was a top priority. At my U of M interview, it was obvious that everyone in the program was invested in bettering the team by prioritizing and customizing the training needs for each resident. I also really appreciated that the faculty were so knowledgeable AND approachable, and that I shared similar goals and interests with many of the residents.
My ideal day in Ann Arbor would consist of waking up at 8:42 AM, going on a SHORT jog through Bird Hills, going to Zingerman’s to pick up freshly made ingredients for a homemade breakfast sandwich, eating said breakfast sandwich, heading to the river for a good float down the rapids with all of my friends, then a trip to HOMES for some refreshing sour beer, then some corn hole and/or Euchre and grill out before we all gather around Ben Becker’s camp fire for some s’mores and deep conversation.
Fun fact: My birthday is on February 22nd and in the year 2022 it will be on a Tuesday. So, in summary, 2/22/2022 will also be “Twos”day… and my birthday.
