Troels Staehelin Jensen, MD, DMSc

Professor of Neurology

Troels Staehelin Jensen, MD, DMSc, is professor of Neurology and of experimental and clinical pain research at Aarhus University, Denmark. He was founder and former director of Danish Pain Research Center and currently the director of the International Diabetic Neuropathy Center at Aarhus University.

 

Dr. Jensen obtained his degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences from the University of Aarhus on work conducted in part at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. He completed his postgraduate clinical fellowship at la Salpétrière Hospital in Paris, France, and his residency in neurology at university hospitals in Denmark. He has had research fellowships in the United States and guest professorships in other countries including USA and Germany.

 

Dr. Jensen has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers in international journals on various neurological and neurobiological topics, mainly related to experimental and clinical pain, and has received several awards and honors for his pain research incl. honorary membership of different societies. Dr. Jensen was President of the Scandinavian Association for the Study of Pain from 1989-94. He was member of council of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) from 1996-2010 and president of the society from 2005-2008 and serves now as IASP-liaison for South-East Asia. He was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark in 2006 and to the 1st degree in 2016.
