Hector H. Garcia, MD, PhD is the director of Center for Global Health, and Professor at Department of Microbiology, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and the Head of Cysticercosis Unit, Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Neurológicas, both in Lima, Perú.

For many years on the forefront of the cysticercosis elimination campaign in Peru, Dr Garcia is a well-known expert in the field of neurocysticercosis and global health, overseeing the widely successful Gates Cysticercosis elimination project, and the PI of several clinical studies. He has been recognized by many awards including Institut de France´s Christophe Mérieux Prize for research on cysticercosis and overall contributions to public health.
