“Beyond Burnout: How Storytelling Can Save Doctoring”

Sneha Mantri, MD, MS

Assistant Professor of Neurology

Sneha Mantri, MD, MS is Assistant Professor of Neurology and Director of Medical Humanities at Duke. She leads the interprofessional Moral Movements in Medicine program, bringing together medical and other health professional students to address the ethical and historical underpinnings of social determinants of health. She also leads narrative medicine workshops across Duke Health to improve clinician understanding of patient experience and to mitigate burnout and moral injury. As a clinical movement disorders specialist, she is involved in efforts sponsored by the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Parkinson's Foundation to improve patient-physician communication as a way of reducing disparities in the care of people with Parkinson disease. Her short fiction has been published in Firewords, Pulse, and The Intima, and she is currently working on a novel about the eugenics movement of the early 20th century.
