Dr. Steven L. Lewis

Dr. Lewis is a graduate of Yale College of Yale University, where he received his BA in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, received his medical school education at Stanford University School of Medicine, and performed his medical internship and neurology residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Lewis is currently Physician in Chief of the Lehigh Valley Fleming Neuroscience Institute and Chief of Neurology at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he has held an Endowed Chair in Neurology since 2017. Prior to that, he was Professor of Neurology, Associate Chair, Neurology Residency Director, and Head of General Neurology at Rush University Medical Center.

Dr. Lewis is a Director of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), where he serves on the Neurology Council and serves as Chair of the Neurocritical Care Steering Committee, Chair of the Article Based Continuing Certification Program for Adult Neurology, and Chair or Vice-Chair of numerous other committees. Dr. Lewis is a past Chair of the Neurology Residency Review Committee (RRC) of the ACGME, served as Chair of the Neurology Milestones Working Group and member of the Neurology Milestones 2.0 Working Group, and serves on the ACGME Accreditation Appeals Panel for Neurology.

Dr. Lewis is immediate past Editor-in-Chief of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology, the official CME journal of the AAN. He is Secretary-General of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN), Chair of the WFN Education Committee, and the Editor of World Neurology, the official news publication of the WFN.

In 2019, Dr. Lewis was the recipient of the A.B. Baker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Neurologic Education from the AAN. His main clinical interests are neurology education, global neurology, the neurology of systemic disease, and transient global amnesia.
