    Craig A. Williamson, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in Neurosurgery and Neurology at the University of Michigan. A native of rural Illinois, he received undergraduate training from the Honors Biology program at the University of Illinois, followed by a health policy fellowship at the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. He then completed medical school at the University of California, San Francisco followed by neurology training at the Harvard BWH-Mass General Neurology Residency. After completing neurocritical care fellowship at the University of Michigan in 2015, he has remained on the faculty and simultaneously obtained an MS in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the School of Public Health in 2017.

    As a neurointensivist, he is passionate about improving patient care and research for patients suffering from acute, severe illnesses of the nervous system and their sequelae. He is particularly interested in training the next generation of neurologists, neurosurgeons and intensivists, and has served as the neurocritical care fellowship director since 2017. Dr. Williamson is an active member of the Neurocritical Care Society who serves on the guidelines committee, on the Editorial Board for the journal Neurocritical Care, and as an author for Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) guidelines.
