Dr. Orringer Treats Marathon-Running Mom with Rare Spinal Cord Tumor

Aimee Garrison's spinal cord tumor was
discovered during the third trimester of
her second pregnancy.

Dr. Orringer was recently featured on UofMHealthBlogs.org for Rare Disease Month for his diagnosis and treatment of a patient with a rare spinal cord ependymoma, which was diagnosed during the patient's third trimester of pregnancy. Thanks to the work of Dr. Orringer and a team of neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and an obstetrician, mom and baby are both doing great, and mom is tumor-free!

"Her resilience was a major factor in her outstanding progress," Dr. Orringer said. "Her recovery was amazingly fast and she has the potential to return to full function - even running marathons again."
