Altus Suite for GME

Michigan Medicine requires completion of Altus Suite for GME for selection into our program.

Altus Suite is a set of selection tools aimed at assessing and understanding your alignment with our program, communication skills, and non-cognitive skills such as collaboration, teamwork, empathy, ethics, and professionalism. Together, these three components of Altus Suite will provide applicants with the opportunity to showcase their strengths, helping them stand out from their peers all while complimenting their ERAS application.

Altus Suite is also aimed at helping our program make fair and equitable decisions based on the applicant’s personal and professional attributes, so as not to rely heavily on cognitive metrics alone.

We welcome applicants from a variety of personal and professional backgrounds. All of our reviewers complete unconscious bias training which prepares them to holistically evaluate every candidate across a spectrum of attributes we believe are necessary to ensure a good fit between residents and our program.

The attributes of a successful candidate to our training program include:

  • Clinical and academic excellence
  • Interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with proven ability to work in teams
  • Integrity, empathy, and cultural humility
  • Resilience, initiative, dependability, and work ethic
  • Interest in research, education, and quality improvement
