Imagine opening an envelope that contains your future. Every spring, our graduating medical students do just that, at the annual Match Day. At the same time as thousands of others around the country, they find out where they have “matched” for their residency training, out of a range of locations they applied to.
It’s a dramatic day, full of laughter, hugs and maybe a few tears. The realization that medical school is almost over hits home, as each student finds out where he or she will spend the next three to six years training in their chosen specialty.
