Sager Day 2021

The Residency Programs at Michigan Medicine and St. Joseph Mercy Health System are committed to ensuring that trainees have the opportunity to learn and engage meaningfully in research during their training.

Sager Day is uniquely focused on supporting the professional growth and development of Residents conducting human subjects or basic science research through the dissemination of research findings and peer recognition. With the guidance of their faculty mentors, trainees have developed their own research proposals and built their critical thinking, experimental design and analysis, and science communication skills. Presentation at Sager Day represents the culmination of a trainee's research milestones and reflects preparedness for long-term academic success.

Maureen G. Phipps, MD, MPH, FACOG

Reflections on Leadership: Women's Health and COVID-19

Dr. Phipps is the CEO of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), where she oversees day-to-day operations and provides leadership to more than 200 staff members. Prior to joining ACOG, she served as professor and chair of the Department of OBGYN and assistant dean for Teaching and Research in Women’s Health at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

Dr. Phipps' broad interests are focused on improving the health of women, their families, and communities with a specific focus on vulnerable women. She is dedicated to training the next generation of women’s health providers in addition to excellence in clinical care and research.
