The W.K. Kellogg Eye Center is home to the University of Michigan Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, which is part of the University of Michigan Medical School and Michigan Medicine.
The Kellogg Eye Center is a nationally recognized center for vision care and research. Our faculty includes outstanding ophthalmologists and vision researchers; our clinical and research programs win continued support from key federal agencies and private foundations.
Kellogg ophthalmologists conduct more than 150,000 patient visits each year, offering an exceptional range of services. The primary facility in Ann Arbor features a comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery clinic and eight subspecialty clinics. Kellogg also serves its patients with specialists in genetic counseling, ocular prosthetics, and ophthalmic photography. These services attract patients from all parts of the nation, and we are known as an important referral center for the Midwest and beyond.
Our scientists have developed a strong vision research program that explores the genetic, molecular, and biochemical underpinnings of sight. Their varied and innovative scientific perspectives place Kellogg in a leadership position for developing new treatments and therapies for blinding eye disease.
Our Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, established in 1872, serves as the teaching arm of the UM Medical School. In that role we attract talented residents and fellows, who will go on to practice ophthalmology throughout the world.
