About the Library

The John W. Henderson Library at the Kellogg Eye Center was established in 1985 to support the clinical, research, and educational activities of the U-M Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

The library was named in honor of John W. Henderson, MD, PhD, Chair of the Department from 1968 to 1978. The Library’s holdings include over 5500 cataloged monographs, CD-Roms, DVDs and an extensive journal collection. Clinical ophthalmology is emphasized, with supporting holdings in basic sciences and general medicine.

The library and collection are available for Kellogg faculty, staff, and students.  Patients and their families, or community vision science professionals conducting research may access the collection by appointment with the librarian.  The library is not part of the U-M Library System, and materials circulate only to Kellogg Eye Center faculty, staff, and students.
