Glaucoma Mid-Winter Symposium

The Mid-Winter symposium provides a comprehensive review of glaucoma, including clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management from our guest and in-house speakers. 

Target Audience

The faculty of the University of Michigan Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences welcomes comprehensive ophthalmologists, glaucoma specialists, and other ophthalmologic subspecialists, trainees, and allied health personnel.

Course Description

The main objective of the Glaucoma Mid-Winter Symposium is to provide attendees with an update on several recent innovations that can greatly enhance their ability to accurately diagnose and care for patients with glaucoma. During the symposium, there will be a keynote talk about lymphatic drainage from the eye and its implications for glaucoma. In addition, there will be time during the symposium for discussion by a panel of glaucoma specialists about some of the topics covered and opportunities for audience participation. 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will understand and be able to implement:

  1. Cutting edge diagnostic testing to diagnose patients with glaucoma and those who are experiencing disease progression
  2. Make better use of ultrasonography to characterize patients with glaucoma
  3. Learn ways to enhance medication adherence for patients with glaucoma
  4. Learn from landmark randomized clinical trials of about ways to better care for patients with glaucoma
