General layout of the fellowship year
The fellowship is ACGME accredited and offered through Michigan Medicine. The fellow will spend time at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in the city of Ann Arbor, MI. The fellowship begins August 1st and concludes July 31st.
The fellow will spend the majority of their time in Ann Arbor. Time will be divided between clinic and the operating room with time also set aside for conferences and research. The fellowship program allows for the fellow to attend two National Orthopaedic conferences during the academic year. In addition, the program has supported the fellow completing an elective travel rotation at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Mexico City, Mexico. The extended learning opportunity will be under the direction of Dr. Felipe Haces, Chief of staff at SHC-Mexico.
The fellowship program does not assign set rotations in order to allow the fellow to maintain a large scope and experience a continuous case mix throughout the academic year. The majority of the fellows schedule is determined by the fellow based on surgical case preference and with the expectation that the fellow will meet the designated milestones of the program.
