Welcome to the University of Michigan Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.
At the University of Michigan and Trinity Health Ann Arbor, we are dedicated to training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. Our program provides a comprehensive, balanced experience in all sub-specialties and provides time with both academic and private practice faculty. Our 38 residents rotate at an academic medical center, a dedicated pediatric hospital, a busy VA hospital, and a large community-based hospital, all within 10 minutes of downtown Ann Arbor. Resident education is a major focus of our department with a favorable ratio of residents to fellows. The program’s leadership is devoted to ensuring all residents receive the best educational experience possible. Research opportunities are numerous as our department ranks within the top 10 orthopaedic departments in NIH funding. Didactic teaching experiences allow our residents to learn core orthopaedic content and prepares them for OITE and ABOS testing. Further dedicated training in surgical skills, research basics, patient safety and quality, and leadership allow for a broad experience outside of the operating room.
Our program is dedicated to promoting a culture of exceptional patient care, hard work and support for one another.
