James E. Carpenter, M.D., is Professor an Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and the Harvard Orthopaedic Residency Training program. Dr. Carpenter has practiced at MedSport for over 30 years and has expertise in all aspects of shoulder surgery and sports medicine, including arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and lectured widely in the field of shoulder injuries and repair. He has served as Team Physician with Michigan Athletics, including serving for 10 years as the head orthopaedic surgeon for Michigan Football.
