Education

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is committed to training the next generation of leaders in the field. Our training programs offer a wide range of experiences and follow a multidisciplinary approach to teaching. Our faculty are leaders in their specialties, with an enthusiasm to share their knowledge.

Under the guidance of dedicated faculty, residents receive in-depth instruction in all facets of otolaryngology and develop skills that equip them to exceed the highest standards of patient care and research.

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery offers several fellowship training opportunities directed by faculty members who are leaders in their sub-specialty.

Medical students are exposed to the diagnosis and management of ear, nose and throat problems across the spectrum through participation in outpatient clinics, inpatient rounds and operative procedures.

The extensive five-day course improves the surgical skill of fellows and residents through a series of dissection exercises and review of topics in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery.

Through hands-on experience, first and second year residents learn airway management from intubation to tracheostomy, drainage of peritonsillar abscess, myringotomy with tube insertion, adenoidectomy and basic sinus surgery skills.

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery hosts two lectureships each year: the Charles J. Krause, M.D., Lectureship and the Lawrence-Hawkins Symposium.
