The fellow has two clinics per month at the University Hospital in which to generate personal surgical cases. The fellow will also serve as first assistant on most of the procedures performed by the faculty. The fellow is primary surgeon on all procedures performed at the Ann Arbor V.A. Healthcare System. Call responsibilities are integrated with other faculty members.
The fellow will be actively involved in resident teaching, including clinical, surgical and didactics. The fellow will also act as lab instructor in courses taught by the director.
Each fellow must perform some clinical or basic science research as required by all AAFPRS fellowship programs. Animal research facilities and limited funding is available.
