The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery hosts an annual simulation course, ORL Essentials Boot Camp in The University of Michigan Clinical Simulation Center (CSC), a unit of the Department of Learning Health Sciences. During this course, instructors from around the Midwest help junior residents develop essential skills, including intubation and surgical airway management, bronchoscopy and epistaxis management. Residents then integrate these skills with practical applications through complex scenarios using high-technology manikins. With emphasis on experience and practice rather than lectures and formal didactics, learners leave with increased comfort and confidence as they embark on their early careers.
