About Vocal Health at Michigan Medicine

The Michigan Medicine Vocal Health Center has been helping patients with voice, airway and swallowing disorders since 1996. Today we are recognized locally, regionally and nationally as a top center for the comprehensive treatment of laryngeal disorders. We are experts in diagnosing and treating all types of laryngeal conditions, and we believe in educating our patients so they can maintain good laryngeal and vocal health.

Our Team

We feel that the optimal treatment of voice disorders requires a comprehensive, team-based approach. We have assembled a team of experts from Michigan Medicine's Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Department of Speech Pathology and the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance to provide specialized care for individuals with voice, breathing and swallowing disorders. Your initial consultation and follow-up appointments may or may not include visits with various members of our team.  You can rest assured knowing we work together in a multidisciplinary environment in order to develop an individualized care plan for each patient.

Care for Occupational and Professional Voice Users

Occupational and professional voice users are at greater risk for developing voice disorders. In addition to the heightened risk, a voice disorder is more likely to negatively impact the quality of life of an occupational or professional voice user. In order to meet the needs of these patients, we have professionals from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance, as well as our laryngology and speech pathology team to provide specialized care for individuals with special or high vocal demands.
