UMMS Faculty Development Program

The Office of Faculty Development maintain an active curriculum of courses and workshops to help faculty develop and refine skills.  A list of upcoming events can be found at Workshops and Events.  Specific courses recommended for all faculty include:

 

Rudi Ansbacher Women in Academic Medicine Leadership Program

This intensive 18-month leadership development program is designed to accelerate the development of women for senior positions in academic medicine and healthcare. The program will provide leaders with insight about their leadership strengths and opportunities, allowing for greater self-awareness, growth, development, and success.

 

University of Michigan ADVANCE Program

The ADVANCE Program aims to improve the University of Michigan's campus environment faculty Recruitment, Retention, Climate, and Leadership

 

Masters Series Leadership Program

The purpose of the Masters Series Leadership Program is to develop the leadership competencies necessary to lead in an ever-changing health care environment. The target audience is mid-level managers with programmatic responsibilities.

 

AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) Leadership Development Program

Numerous programs are available for all faculty levels through the AAMC. Specific Programs recommended include

 

Pediatric Leadership Development Program (PDLP)

The PLDP from the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs (AMSPDC) aims to help develop the next generation of pediatric chairs in North America, ensuring that they will be well poised to lead our profession through the rapidly changing environment of academic medicine and health care in general.

 

The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Research Scholars Program

A program given by the Academic Pediatric Association focused on assisting pediatric clinician-educators and clinician-researchers in developing themselves as fulfilled faculty members engaged in important and exciting research and increasing the quality and breadth of child health research.

 

The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Educational Scholars Program

The APA Educational Scholars Program: This program targets present or future faculty in academic pediatrics who wish to build their skills in educational scholarship. The mission of the APA Educational Scholars Program is to assist pediatric educators in developing themselves as productive, advancing and fulfilled faculty members and to increase the quality, status and visibility of pediatric educators in academia.
