2022 Fellowship Graduate
Currently working for University of Michigan in Adolescent Medicine
Why I chose Michigan:
My decision to pursue a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine was driven by my passion towards empowering adolescents and young adults from diverse socioeconomic and racial/ethnic backgrounds by optimizing their mental and physical health and wellbeing. As a pediatric resident at Michigan, I pursued a longitudinal experience in clinic with Adolescent Medicine faculty, which exposed me to a wide range of clinical, educational, and scholarly opportunities. Our program's emphasis on collaboration and diverse clinical interests among the faculty stood out, as did the quaternary care system that enables comprehensive interdisciplinary care. The robust research community at Michigan, which promotes collaboration with scholarly leaders for individuals of all baseline knowledge, experience, and expertise was another uniquely attractive component. For these reasons our fellowship program was a clear front runner for me. My fellowship training prepared me for various clinical settings and medical and psychiatric challenges, igniting a sense of creative clinical and scholarly pursuit. During my fellowship, Dr. Miller’s collaborative and trainee-centered leadership allowed me to expand our program’s procedural training opportunities and enhance exposure to diverse communities. After graduating, I have been able to expand access to gender care, mental health, and sexual reproductive care to the community of Ypsilanti and have continued to empower interdisciplinary trainees and colleagues through local, national, and international presentations related to Adolescent Medicine.”
