Biography

I grew up in Minnesota (the land of snow and ice) and at a young age learned how much I loved biology and genetics. After completing a BS in Genetics at the other U of M, I moved to Virginia and completed my MD/PhD at the University of Virginia in bioinformatics. I met my husband there and we spent our free time with our boxer enjoying the Blue Ridge mountains. During my clinical years in medical school, I fell in love with pediatrics and chose to combine my interests and complete a combined pediatrics/genetics. My husband (fellow peds resident) and I are so excited to be at Michigan and still find time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, especially during the winter! We have really enjoyed exploring all of Ann Arbor's awesome restaurants and breweries.

Why I Chose Michigan

I was looking for a larger pediatrics program that offered a genetics residency. After interviewing across the country, Michigan was the most impressive in terms of commitment to teaching and developing residents as well as the fabulous facilities for both clinical care and research.
