About Me:
Ciao! My name is Francesco Sautto. I am a first generation Italian-American raised in Miami, Florida. My parents immigrated to the United States from Napoli, Italy, my father being a pizza chef and my mother a cosmetologist. I am proud to be the first in my family’s history to become a doctor. I had been living in Miami, Florida most of my life and attended the University of Miami for undergraduate before getting my medical degree at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando. I am passionate about medical genetics education and increasing access to genetics services. When not practicing medicine, I’ll be watching soccer and volleyball on the weekends and exploring the local food scene with my wife.
Why I chose Michigan:
Though we had an online interview, there was a spark in my interactions with the faculty and residents of both the Pediatrics and Medical Genetics departments. I felt that this was a place my wife and I could call home with a program that would support us all 4 years. University of Michigan is also renowned in the field of genetics and am excited to be able to join a long history of producing excellent physicians.
