This past April, Dr. Durga Singer, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Endocrinology and member of the Department of Pediatrics DEI Action Committee, was awarded the Michigan Medicine DEI Advocate award under the Faculty category. Nominated by Dr. Ram Menon and Whitney Williams, Dr. Singer’s award was officially announced at the DEI Symposium on April 24.
Four Michigan Medicine community members received the inaugural Outstanding DEI Advocate award under categories of faculty member, staff member, learner and team. Recipients of the award are recognized as those who consistently go above and beyond to elevate DEI within their individual units. Dr. Singer’s work includes developing and leading several successful DEI initiatives within the department including dinners, activities, panel discussions and other events.
