The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan has been awarded a five-year Child Health Research Career Development Award (CHRCDA) from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, a branch of the National Institutes of Health. This program is designed to foster the development of junior pediatrician-scientists engaged in lab-based research. Funds are available for up to four trainees (Scholars). The grant contributes up to $100,000 per year toward each Scholar's salary and fringe benefits and up to $25,000 per year for research development costs. The University of Michigan is one of only 13 CHRCDA programs in the country, placing it in the highest echelon of pediatrics departments nationally.
