About Me:
My name is Shane and I am a pediatric genetics resident who is interested in the applications to the field of hematology/oncology and plan to pursue a career in that. I was born and raised in Kentucky before moving to Michigan for residency with my wife. While in Kentucky I completed medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine which is where I became interested in the field of genetics. My wife and I love exploring with our two dogs, a Corgi named Einstein and an Australian Sheppard named Peach. When not working or walking the dogs, I enjoy staying inside with a good book, video game, or tv show to occupy my time.
Why I chose Michigan:
U of M will provide ample research opportunities for me to explore genetics research and allow me to see a wide array of interesting cases. Additionally, U of M will allow me to provide excellent care to the children of Michigan and allow me to utilize my public health training to address pediatric health disparities.
