Our mission:

  • To provide the highest quality and advanced medical care to children 
  • To develop new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for diseases that impact children through basic, clinical and health services research
  • To provide outstanding education across the continuum of pediatric medicine.

The over 250 clinical, research, and instructional faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital are committed to accomplishing these mission goals in all domains of child health from specialty care to primary care to community/global outreach and to research from basic science to practice. We also have a commitment to student and house officer training to train the next generation of Pediatricians through our Pediatric Residency ProgramInternal Medicine-Pediatrics Combined Residency Program and greater than 15 fellowship programs

The Department maintains a portfolio of research awards in excess of $25 million, primarily from federal funders.  Doximity ranked the Pediatric Residency Program #1 in the state of Michigan and #4 in large public hospital systems.
