Francisco completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a concentration in Neuroscience at Grinnell College. During that time and a subsequent gap year working with Dr. Carrie Ferrario, he gained research experience in clinical study recruitment, cardiac injury, molecular neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, and nucleic acid chemistry. Currently, Francisco employs the use of electrophysiology and stem cell-derived models to uncover mechanistic connections between arrhythmia and epilepsy resultant from dysfunction in the voltage-gated potassium channel ERG1.
