Happy Black History Month from UM Pharmacology!

On June 8, 2022, the Department of Pharmacology hosted its inaugural Pharmacology in Color Symposium. This symposium was created to give the opportunity to build networks with alumni of color and trainees across multiple disciplines and help foster community amongst trainees of color and allies. In line with the Department of Pharmacology’s commitment to fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the symposium provided a safe space for students to establish new relationships with those who are underrepresented in their programs and share their experiences. The symposium also gave opportunities to connect trainees with alumni and to build a lasting network of support while fostering an inclusive space for trainees from all backgrounds.

The Department of Pharmacology is currently planning the 2023 Pharm in Color Symposium that will take place June 8-10, 2023 at UM. Colleen Carpenter, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in Biology at the University of Richmond, and former Ph.D. student in Dr. Margaret Gnegy’s laboratory will be the keynote speaker. Multiple Michigan Alumni will be invited to attend to present work and ideas and to provide mentoring support.

Registration for the 2023 symposium will open soon.

We hope to see you there!
